High Desert Wool Growers’ annual Fiber Market day is organized by a group of volunteers who sponsor this event each spring in central Oregon, where farmers and fiber artists can bring their products as an exhibition, sale, educational opportunity, and a gathering of fiber enthusiasts from our region. All vendors are encouraged to demonstrate some aspect of their craft, and/or have at least a small display of you working at your craft, processing, farm, etc. Sharing techniques, skills, and passion for fiber arts encourages new as well as continuing interest in the fiber arts. A portion of our advertising is geared to bringing in newcomers, as well as the traditional audiences.

Due to this being a farm-based organization, we like to have livestock present if possible; therefore, the Coastal Pavilion is our building of choice. Vendors who are sitting/standing in a small space all day, and obviously outdoors, plan to wear wonderful natural fiber layers to keep warm! Even though the Coastal Pavilion is a “climate-controlled” building, it is large, and open doors and/or weather may also affect the indoor environment. The lighting in the building was improved in 2024.

In order to keep the FMD fairly competitive for all vendors, large amounts of destashing with big discounts, or fiber items not made or outsourced by the vendor, are not allowed. 90% of your items should be natural fiber, or fiber-related tools and products. No other retail/resale is acceptable. A small amount of non fiber-related products that you create or produce yourself, under the same guidelines as the fiber products, are okay.

We try to have a food truck available out in front of the building. As of 2024, the fairgrounds began providing their own food truck, which went well for FMD in 2024. We hope to include more specific info regarding what they will have available closer to the event in April.
